THE
LAST FRONTIER
Last, loneliest, loveliest,
Great Barrier Island is a mystical, mythical place, the last big land mass
between Auckland and the vast Pacific. For years a haven for dropouts
and eccentrics, it's been discovered by well-off Aucklanders who are paying
high prices for land even as the island's resident population drops and jobs
dry up.
